Email your MP – No more weapons to Saudi Arabia

Canada has blood on its hands.

Now approaching its seventh year, the war in Yemen has killed over a quarter of a million people. Over 4 million people have been displaced because of the war, and 70% of the population, including 11.3 million children, are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.

The Saudi-led coalition has bombed Yemeni markets, hospitals, and civilians, and yet Canada has exported over $8 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia since 2015, the year the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen began. It’s despicable for Canada to be profiting from selling arms to Saudi Arabia.

The UN Human Rights Council has twice named Canada as one of the states fueling the ongoing war in Yemen by continuing arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

After months of escalating organizing across the country — from arms blockades and banner drops, to car caravans and dozens of protests, to media exposés and damning reports — we know the Trudeau government is feeling the pressure.

Send a letter now calling on the Canadian government to stop sending weapons to Saudi Arabia and stop arming the horrific war in Yemen. Canada must immediately end all arms exports to Saudi Arabia, expand humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen, and work with trade unions to develop a plan for a just transition for arms industry workers who would be impacted by the cessation of arms exports to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi/UAE campaign against Yemen is genocidal in nature. To continue to arm Saudi Arabia places the government of Canada in complicity with what amounts to war crimes committed by Saudi Arabia against the Yemeni civilian population

We have no right to send any type of weapons to the Saudis as they are used on innocent civilians in Yemen shame on us.

The Saudi/UAE campaign against Yemen is simply genocide. We Cannot and Are Not going to continue to arm Saudi Arabia, as it places the government of Canada, and all Canada, Canadians in complicity with what amounts to war crimes committed by Saudi Arabia against the Yemeni civilian population. No to War in Yemen, No to Arming Saudi, Yes to Peace in Yemen, Yes to Peace and Justice for All. We, Canada, Turtle Island, sacred place, courageously stand for Peace in Canada, Turtle Island, World, Internationally, Globally, Earth, Space, Cosmos, Universe, beyond… and all sacred land, places, everywhere… Peace…Peace…Peace…

Great article for continuing to spread awareness. The Yemen ppl deserve to live in peace. Shame on the Canadian government.

To my horror, my country Canada, once a peaceable nation, has in the course of selling over $8 billion dollars’ worth of LAV’s to Saudi Arabia over the past 7 years, exposed its dark underbelly as a mercenary warmonger, and a willing partner in the butchery of innocent Yemeni citizens, for the entire world to see. The hypocrisy screams eternal shame on those who have undertaken, and who continue this depraved project.

It is so sad Yemen continues to suffer and Canada sends arms to Saudi Arabia. That country’s record on violence, human rights abuses and death penalties goes on. It is time to stop the arms deals.

Would I murder my next door neighbor if some business man paid me a few thousand dollars to do it? (Of course he/she knows that he/she will get paid himself/herself many thousands of dollars.) No, but that’s exactly what we Canadians are doing by selling arms to Saudi Arabia. And we know it, too! How strange that we put up with it and somehow ignore that we are earning money through genocide!

Canada is such a hypocrite! We rant against China for its actions against its Muslims and berate Russia for its war crimes in Ukraine, but we enable Saudi Arabia to continue its war crimes in Yemen. We also pride ourselves on being a peace-keeping country.

Members of our House of Commons, proud to have won a seat and considering themselves above the average Canadian, are proving themselves to be degenerate. They’re an embarrassement to Canada.

Obviously there are better ways to trade and to help other countries. Prefab housing would be one example. We should never deal in arms with any country. We are losing our reputation as a peace loving peace making country.

Trudeau’s Liberals have earned our disgust by continuing to sell arms to the Saudis. Those light armoured vehicles are most certainly arms. Ask Ukranians if they agree.

We are holier than thou on Ukraine but silent on Yemen. And we allow our wheat board to be owned by the saudis.

Canada should stop selling arms to all countries. We should promote peace and discussion instead of war.
We should only ally ourselves to countries, which are peaceful.
War mongers should be avoided starting with the USA.

Canada’s participation in the illegal war on Yemen,by providing weaponry to the Saudis, makes Canada complicit and equally responsible for the horrors perpetrated there .Stop the killing there now . Stop sending weapons for profit to continue the mass murder there now . We are as a country , all shamed by heartless Canadian profiteers .
